Mercé Barbé
Finance Director

Mercè joined Abac Capital in 2015. Prior to joining Abac Capital, she worked at Dogi International Fabrics for 17 years in the Finance Department, where she became Group Financial Controller. She was previously a Financial Controller in Hutchinson. Mercè holds a degree in Business Administration from ESADE (Barcelona).

Artur Bardera
Principal

Artur joined Abac Capital in 2017. Prior to Abac, Artur worked in Nuclio, a Spanish venture studio, as head of new ventures and launched companies such as Housfy. Artur also led the portfolio and deal flow for Conector, a Spanish accelerator that mentored companies like Glovo. Before that, Artur worked at Bfab, leading the business development team in Southeast Asia, and at KPMG in Barcelona. Artur has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Barcelona, and he is a Teaching Assistant at ESADE.

Federico Conchillo
Partner

Federico joined Abac Capital in 2019. Before joining Abac Capital, he worked at PAI partners for 12 years where he was a Partner and head of the Investment Group. Prior to joining PAI partners, he was a Director in Merrill Lynch Investment Banking and an Associate at The Boston Consulting Group. Federico holds a degree in Applied Economics from K.U. Leuven (Belgium) and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Ariadna Cuella
Office Assistant

Ariadna joined Abac Capital in 2016. Prior to joining Abac, she worked in several companies as an executive assistant, such as Ribé Salat and Clinica Cima. Ariadna holds a Certificate of Higher Education in Protocol and IIRR from the Escuela Superior de Protocolo y Relaciones Institucionales ESPRI.

Lily Daniel
Investor Relations and Sustainability Officer

Lily joined Abac Capital in 2021. Prior to joining Abac, she worked at FC Barcelona as Business Manager for the Espai Barça project. Prior to this she worked in London for Tishman Speyer as a portfolio manager and as an investment banking analyst at Goldman Sachs in New York. Lily graduated from Duke University, was a Fulbright Scholar and has an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Jaime Díaz
Associate

Jaime joined Abac Capital in 2021. Before joining Abac, he worked at J.P. Morgan’s investment banking division for 3 years covering diverse industries in the Spanish and Portuguese markets. Prior to that, he worked in the wealth management teams in J.P. Morgan and UBS as a junior portfolio manager in Madrid. Jaime holds an MSc in Civil Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Valencia.

Marc Faiges
Vice President

Marc joined Abac Capital full-time in 2016 after completing his internship. Prior to joining Abac Capital, he interned at the Finance division of Vodafone in Luxembourg. Marc holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Barcelona) and a Master of Science in Management from HEC Business School (Paris).

Pol Ferrer
Vice President

Pol joined Abac Capital in 2017. Prior to joining Abac Capital, he worked at Delta Partners Capital, a growth equity fund focused on emerging markets in Dubai. Prior to this he worked in the investment banking division at Credit Suisse in New York and in strategy consulting focused on the Telecom, Media and Digital industries at Delta Partners in Dubai. Pol holds an MSc in Industrial Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Barcelona), an MSc in Executive Engineering from the École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris and an MBA from Harvard Business School (Boston).

Susie Hind
Office Manager

Susie joined Abac Capital in 2014. Before joining Abac Capital, she worked at Apax Partners for 4 years as the Office Manager of the Spanish office and personal assistant to the CEO. Prior to Apax, she worked as personal assistant to the CEO at Dogi International Fabrics and at Contagua.

Germán López
Director

Germán joined Abac Capital in 2016. Prior to joining Abac Capital, he worked in Spanish mid-market private equity firm Hiperion Capital in Madrid focused on turnaround and special situations investments, and at KPMG Advisory in the Transaction Services and Audit divisions in Madrid. Germán holds a Degree in Business Administration from the Universidad de Navarra and a master’s degree from IE Business School.

Borja Martínez de la Rosa
Founding Partner

Borja co-founded Abac Capital in 2014. Before co-founding Abac Capital, he worked at Apax Partners for 13 years as a Partner in the tech & telecom team globally and as a generalist covering the Spanish market since 2004. Prior to joining Apax Partners, he was a Summer Associate at Goldman Sachs and an Associate at The Boston Consulting Group. Borja holds a degree in Business Administration from ESADE (Barcelona) and an MBA from Harvard Business School (Boston), where he was a Fulbright Scholar.

Lluís Molins
Director

Lluís joined Abac Capital in 2015. Prior to joining Abac Capital, he worked in the private equity arm of industrial conglomerate Mitsui & Co in London, in Morgan Stanley’s investment banking division in London and at automotive supplier Continental in Frankfurt and Tokyo. Lluís holds an MSc in Telecommunications Engineering from La Salle University (Barcelona) and an MBA from IESE Business School (Barcelona)

Anna Pellicer
Venture & Sustainability Analyst 

Anna joined Abac Capital full-time in 2019 after completing her internship. Prior to joining Abac Capital, she interned at Ulabox, an e-commerce start-up, and in a non-profit organisation in Peru. Anna holds a degree in Business Administration from ESADE (Barcelona) and did her exchange programme at the University of British Columbia (Canada), where she specialised in Sustainability.

Joan Pina
Abac Fast Forward

Joan Pina is the Head of ABAC Fast Forward sustainable value creation platform. He has been with ABAC since 2017 leading transformational programs at the portfolio companies. Prior to joining ABAC, Joan founded four digital companies, including a fintech and insurtech company, and held a General Manager position in a former Amazon subsidiary (Living Social). Previously, he developed his professional career at PwC in New York, Dublin and Barcelona. Joan received his Business Administration degree from Barcelona University and participated in an Executive Development program at IESE.

Oriol Pinya
Founding Partner and CEO

Oriol co-founded Abac Capital in 2014. Before Abac, he worked at Apax Partners for 15 years as an Equity Partner, Head of the Spanish office and Co-Head of the global retail & consumer team. Prior to Apax, he worked at Merrill Lynch and at the Boston Consulting Group. He is the Chairman of SpainCap, the Spanish VC & PE Association. He is also a Patron of the Barcelona School of Economics and of several other NFP organizations. Oriol holds a degree in Business Administration from ESADE (Barcelona), a CEMS Master from HEC (Paris) and an MBA from Harvard Business School (Boston), where he was a Fulbright Scholar.

Cristina Ramón
Controller

Cristina joined Abac Capital in 2019. Before joining Abac Capital, she worked at Guzmán Gastronomía as Head of Administration. Prior to that she worked for 6 years at Playasol Ibiza Hotels as a Financial Controller and for 5 years at Deloitte as an Auditor. Cristina holds a degree in Business Administration from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona).

Javier Rigau †
Founding Partner 

In memoriam. Javier passed away in 2020, but his legacy will always be with us. Prior to co-founding Abac Capital in 2014 where he was a Senior Partner and Chief Compliance Officer, he worked at Apax Partners for 12 years as a Principal in the Retail & Consumer team. While at Apax, Javier was seconded for over a year in several portfolio companies and held a number of portfolio company directorships. He started his career as an Analyst in Granville Baird’s M&A division. Javier held a degree in Business Administration from ESADE (Barcelona) and an MBA from Harvard Business School (Boston).

Maria Rosell
Analyst

Maria joined Abac Capital full-time in 2020 after completing her internship. Prior to joining Abac Capital, she interned at Bloomberg and at the confectionery multinational Lindt & Sprüngli. Maria holds a degree in Business Administration from ESADE (Barcelona).

Xavier Roura
Associate

Xavier joined Abac Capital full-time in 2018 after completing his internship. Prior to joining Abac Capital, he interned at the Minsait’s transportation and logistics consulting division, ALG. Xavier holds a degree in Civil Engineering from UPC (Barcelona) and a Master of Science in Management from HEC Business School (Paris).

Rosa Maria Sánchez
Legal & Compliance Officer

Rosa joined Abac Capital in 2017. Prior to joining Abac, she was a member of the Corporate, M&A and Finance teams at Baker McKenzie in Barcelona and Frankfurt. Before that, she worked at McDemott Will & Emery in London and at Garrigues Abogados in Barcelona. She is a solicitor registered with the Barcelona Bar Association and with the Law Society of England and Wales. She is also a member of the ESADE Alumni Association. Rosa received her master’s degree in international law from ESADE and she was a British Council scholar in the European Young Lawyers Scheme (Edinburgh 2005).

Abac Fast Forward is a group of over 30 Operating Partners who work together with the company management teams to support and ensure the execution of the business transformation. Our Operating Partners bring specialist digital, sustainability and operational experience with knowledge from a variety of industries like consumer-digital, TMT, industrials and services. They also have experience in a variety of situations like growth and international expansion, turnaround situations, operational improvement, and M&A.

Previously they have been in senior executive roles, business owners or entrepreneurs at companies like Amazon Group, BCG, Burger King , Carrefour, Campofrío, Desigual, Diamond Cluster, Google, Harley Davidson, IKEA, Inditex, Johnson Controls, KPMG, La Vanguardia, McKinsey & Company, Panrico, Puig beauty, PwC, Tendam Group, Tienda Animal – Kiwoko, Vente-Privee, among others.
